I'm Nick Badders
I'm a senior at Arizona State's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. There, I am working to earn my bachelor’s degree and plan to use it to seek a career after college in baseball play-by-play broadcasting. Currently, I'm in Melbourne, Australia working for the Australian Baseball League's Melbourne Aces.
Most recently, I spent the summer of 2019 as the broadcast and media relations manager for the Elizabethton Twins, Rookie Advanced affiliate of the Minnesota Twins in the Appalachian League. I also spent 2018 directing broadcasting and media relations for the independent Sonoma Stompers.
At ASU, I have served as the voice of Sun Devil women's soccer and women's hockey, while also active with the Walter Cronkite Sports Network and campus radio station, Blaze Radio. Between the sports department for Blaze Radio and Pac-12 Plus streams, I have broadcasted track and field, hockey, basketball, baseball, softball and soccer.
"Any good broadcast, not just an Olympic broadcast, should have texture to it. It should have information, should have some history, should have something that's offbeat, quirky, humorous, and where called for it, should have journalism, and judiciously it should also have commentary. That's my ideal." - Bob Costas
I am spending the Minor League Baseball offseason in Australia, calling games and working in the front office for the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League in the 2019-2020 season.
